Google Is Now Indexing SVG

There is some good news for all the SVG developers and users. Google has recently announced that it will now index all files and images based on SVG format. As a result of this decision, SVG files can also be reflected in the Google search results.

SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics, and is the W3C recommended format for creating graphics for the internet. W3C or World Wide Web consortium always supports open standard technology, and SVG is a pioneer in open standard technology.

SVG is categorized under vector graphic format, and is often called meta-format or multimedia format, on lines with Micromedia flash. Vector format images are very high quality images, which are not distorted even if zoomed to higher proportions. The reason being that such vector graphic formats like SVG are based on complex mathematical calculation which define the points  between any two entities, thereby producing the image.

SVG is primarily based on XML, which supports interactive elements. Thus, from now on, whether the SVG format is standalone or embedded in HTML/XML format, Google will identify it and index it to show them in the search results.

Google crawlers take a bit of time to index each and every web page, as Internet is so huge. However, Google users, search engine marketers and webmasters can view the indexed SVG files by clicking: [sitemap site:fastsvg.com] or [HideShow site:svg-whiz.com]

Google being a big fan of open standards has now unleashed a new era of graphics designing and developing by accepting SVG graphics format. This new development from Google is certainly a natural enhancement of this policy.
